Bootlegger's Moonshine is based on the traditional Moonshine made in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The term comes from the fact that it is done at night so people will not see the smoke from the still. Therefore, it can be hidden from the police or thirsty neighbors. Moonshine is different from “Mampoer”. Moonshine is Corn Based Likker with a Pure and Smooth Taste. Moonshine is made from Corn, Sugar, Water and Yeast. Once the fermentation process is done it is then distilled. Bootlegger's Moonshine uses stainless steel still and thumper (Double Distilled). The vapor then passes through copper mesh and copper piping before finally dripping crystal clear likker. Moonshine purists define the spirit as a homemade, unaged whiskey, marked by its clear color, corn base, and high alcohol content—sometimes peaking as high as 80% Alc/ Vol or 190 proof. Traditionally, it was produced in a homemade still and bottled in a mason jar. To comply with South African liquor laws, the Master Distiller had to down proof our moonshine to 40% Alc/Vol or 80 proof. Bootlegger's Moonshine started originally with 4 lines, Whiskey, Brandy, Apple Krumble and Gummy Berry Shine. Bootlegger's Moonshine introduced Gin to their range in middle December 2020 and it has become one of their biggest sellers. Late January 2021 Bootlegger's Moonshine introduced an answer to tequila. By launching Gold Shine and Platinum Shine. All our lines can be enjoyed on the rocks or with a mix of your choice.
